Our Favourite Colours

We read a story together about Dinosaurs and talked about how they looked around for food at sunrise and sunset. Then we got to thinking about the sky lighting up in lovely colours at these special times so...  Here are some of our stories about our favourite colors and more importantly why they are our favourite.

My favourite colour is sunset because it reminds me of the sunset. It is so amazing! When the sun goes down it's the sunset. I have drawn a picture.

Maths In Room One Workshops

The children coming into Room One for Maths are learning to 'image' numbers in their heads.We have been focussing on Place Value and the difference between -teen numbers and -try numbers. eg. 13 and 30.

We have been using money, sticks, tens frames and the abacus to help us visualise what these numbers look like and are made up of.

Swimming Stories

I am learning to float on my back. I can float on my front. I get water up my nose. It feels sore. When I go under the water goes in my nose!

In our school pool we Seahorses have been learning streamlining. We did it on back and front. We are better at front but it was fun on our back. Now we are learning Whale stuff like overarm. This afternoon our parents are coming to watch us.

Last night I hopped in the pool. I made a whirlpool with Zara. First I bombed in. After I did the whirlpool I just lay there and the water just pushed me. I felt very happy. It was fun. Then I hopped out and got dressed then I had tea. For tea I had meat and potato.

Swimming Lessons on Display

On Thursday afternoon we opened our swimming lessons to parents and showed what the children have achieved this swimming season.
Here are a few photos of some Room One swimmers in the Seahorses and/or Whales groups learning freestyle and backstroke.

The Stingrays and Starfish groups were working on good strong leg kicking.to carry them further across the pool.
