Athletics Day
We have been practising lots of skills to compete in on Athletics Day so everyone was ready for the big day on Friday. Here are some people's thoughts.
"On Friday it was Athletics day!" I had so much fun! First we did high jump and then we did shot put after that we did long jump which I was really good at! and then we did hurdles! And then after all those things we did sprints! On the first race I was so, so, so, so and so worried that I would come last but when the blocks clapped together I raced as fast as I ever had and I came first! I was so proud of myself. I think my shoes are magic!

I came third in the sprints on Friday. I wasn't scared of anything. I liked everything. I was the best at high jump and long jump. I like Athletics. It was fun.

On Friday afternoon it was Athletics. I was bad at shot put. My favourite bit was the hurdles. I came third in every sprinting race. After that I was puffed. I always cleared the bar in high jump.

At Athletics I won all of my races even the finals!!!! I was so happy that I was almost about to scream and it was very funny that the teachers had to have a race.

On Athletics day I was scared at the high jump but I had fun at jumping up and down and I had lots of fun at high jump. I like how I did throw the rockets too.

On Friday I went to Athletics. I felt excited about all of it. We went to the Long Jump first, I got to the third cone. Then I went to the throwing. I got an extra point for hitting Mrs O'Leary.

At Athletics on fun Friday my favourite thing was ... fast sprinting!! I ran as fast as I could, I came first two times and third once. I said " I'm nervous." But I am just going to try and on your marks, get set, Bang!! I was by Ruby and we had a tie. After all I liked it but it got trickier. We had to go all the way from... the back of the field to the red turf. "I can't run that far" but I did. I had no drink with all the Athletics so I ran on the turf and got a hot drink from the shiny water fountain but it cooled down Ahh!!

Crystal did some Procedural writing :
On Friday it was Athletics. I was with the year two girls. First we did high jump. Then did shot put. Next long jump. After that hurdles. Lastly you had to try to hit someone it's called javelins. Finally the ... races. I did four races.
Mia's News
Look what Mia brought to school this morning.
She found these two freshwater crayfish in a creek. She called one Fatty and one Skinny, can you tell which is which?
After we all had a good look we went down to our school creek and let them go.

Measuring : Body Art
As part of our Maths measuring unit we have been measuring parts of our bodies to cut out shapes and string to form a garden picture. In pairs we have been using comparative measuring language. The children have measured from their wrist to elbow, shoulder to fingertips, feet, hands, noses and fingers.
It was great to see the Room one kids working together on their Maths task and also discussing measuring in a fun context. Here are some photos of the work in progress.
